NABU eliminated 18 million UAH public funds embezzlement scheme
On November 24, 2016, the Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) in cooperation with the Office of Security Service of Ukraine in Zaporizhzhya region have exposed the organized group whose members attempted an appropriation of funds of the State Enterprise «State Design Institute «Zaporizhtsyvilproekt» (falls within the scope of management of the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine) in the amount of more than 18 million UAH.
According to their plan, in 2015 the participants of the crime group (including heads of the State Enterprise (SE) created fictitious debt, where the SE owed 18 million UAH to the private enterprise they controlled. Then the partners in crime appealed to the court to collect the debt and further intended to collect it by selling the SE’s real estate.
As of now 4 suspects are taken into the custody under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedural Code of Ukraine. They are suspected of committing crimes under the Article 15, Part 5 Article 191, Part 1 Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (forgery in office).
The NABU started the investigation of this criminal proceeding in September 2016.
